Ice Cream for 50 Cents? Aldi Becomes Germany’s Most Affordable Ice Cream Parlor
Where to get Aldi’s ice cream – and what’s behind the campaign
Prices like back in the day. Ice cream enjoyment as always.
That’s the concept behind Aldi’s new Preiswagen ("price truck"): In July, the German discount chain is launching a unique campaign. A mobile ice cream truck will stop in six cities across Germany, offering scoops of ice cream for just 50 cents. With this, Aldi becomes the most affordable ice cream parlor in the country – while also making a statement about accessible indulgence and social responsibility.
From vanilla to vegan – what’s on the menu
The selection includes classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and stracciatella – plus vegan options. All varieties come from Aldi’s private label Mucci. For €2.50, you can also get larger portions like the classic spaghetti ice cream or banana split.
More than just a scoop
The low price isn’t the only social element: 100% of the proceeds will be donated to local food banks (Tafeln). A nostalgic treat that not only brings back childhood memories but also supports a meaningful cause.
Tour stops in 6 cities
The so-called Preiswagen (a play on the German words for "price" and "ice cream truck") will be parked at the following Aldi stores from 2–6 PM:
July 2nd: Essen, Korthover Weg
July 3rd: Düsseldorf, Ahnfeldstraße
July 8th: Hamburg, Langenhorner Chaussee
July 8th: Munich, Frankfurter Ring
July 10th: Leipzig, Braustraße
July 10th: Mainz, Bürgermeister-Alexander-Straße
A sweet campaign for a good cause
With its Preiswagen, Aldi aims to offer more than just a refreshing summer treat – it’s about inclusion and solidarity.
A scoop of ice cream for just 50 cents is not only an affordable indulgence with nostalgic flair – it’s also a small but powerful symbol of community support this summer.
